WRITING SCHOOL FOR Year 4-10 · NZ / AU

The writing classroom that doesn't write for your child.

Instead, it feeds them content and lets them craft their own masterpieces.

Built for New Zealand and Australian Year 4-10 students to learn academic writing.

Every lesson runs through six phases to forge a strong piece of writing (first we light the fire, next add materials, shape, hammer, inspect, and polish).

With margin-note feedback, students gain valuable insight into the task and their writing. They build the structure real academic writing needs, and can see their progress grow lesson by lesson.

New families start with a short writing assessment, so we can place each student at the right level. The pilot is running now.

HOW A LESSON RUNS

The six-phase forge

Every WritingForge lesson follows the same rhythm. Students don't open a blank page and a chatbot. They work through six phases of a lesson in a specific order to guide them through their writing journey.

1.

Light the Fire

We activate what the student already knows about the topic and get their brains lit up and firing.

2.

Add the Materials

Read informational texts and consider key details from them.

3.

Start Shaping

We begin structuring the writing and add key focuses for the lesson.

4.

Hammer it Hard

Independent draft: the student writes, and upon completion, the first layer of structure feedback appears in the margin.

5.

Inspect

Scoring, revision suggestions.

Premium
6.

Polish till Perfect

Home review: review and rewrite, improve structure, add further evidence, fix grammar and spelling errors.

HOW THE FEEDBACK WORKS

Three kinds of feedback, and what each one can't catch

Some feedback is instant, but the majority is sent by the teacher after the lesson. Each one below says what it catches and what it leaves to the teacher.

Structure

Instant

Checks the student's writing while they type.

Detects shape, not meaning. A well-structured essay can still be wrong, so a teacher reviews every piece.

Coherence reading and error correction

A few seconds

Reads the draft for logic, coherence, and reasoning gaps. Points out grammar and spelling mistakes to be corrected.

Suggestions for the student to think through, not straight out edits for students to copy.

Growth report

After the lesson

Tracks structural skills across weeks and units.

Showing patterns over time, not a single-number grade.

THE BOUNDARY

What this classroom will not do

WritingForge does not write your child's essay. It does not deliver an automated final grade. It does not stand in for a teacher's judgment or a parent's read-through.

Students write, teachers review, and parents see the work as it grows.

WritingForge guides the craft in between.

  • We don't write your child's essay
  • No automated final grades
  • No fake confidence scores
  • No AI tutor that "chats with your child"

THE PILOT

The pilot is running now

WritingForge is currently running classes in person, online and blended, with small classes of Year 4-10students across New Zealand. These students work through the six-phase classroom, receive structured feedback reports, and shape what we build next.
